The Nenahnezad Community School Residential Program provides a structured, supportive, and engaging environment for students to grow academically, socially, and culturally. The program operates on a five-day schedule, opening on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. and closing on Friday at 3:00 p.m.

Programs and Services

The Residential Program offers a variety of services designed to support students' academic success, personal development, and well-being. The following programs are available:

Academic Support

  • Homework Assistance Program – Provides tutoring and study support.
  • 21st Century Afterschool Program – Offers enrichment activities that enhance learning.
  • Computer Lab – Open daily for academic and personal use.

Wellness and Counseling

  • Behavioral Health Program – Supports students' mental and emotional well-being.
  • Therapeutic Counseling – Offers one-on-one and group counseling sessions.
  • Wellness Program – Includes life skills training and the Four Directions Sports Program.
  • School-Based Clinic – Provides monthly health services through the Indian Health Service (IHS).

Cultural Enrichment

  • Native Language and Culture Program – Promotes cultural identity and language preservation.
  • Monthly Culture Presentations – Features guest speakers and activities focused on heritage.
  • Diné Youth Presentations and Activities – Engages students in cultural teachings and traditions.

Leadership and Personal Development

  • Big Sister, Big Brother Program – Fosters peer mentoring and positive relationships.
  • School Council and Government– Encourages leadership development and student advocacy.
  • Self-Development and Self-Reliance Presentations – Covers essential life skills and personal growth strategies.

Recreational and Social Activities

  • Evening Recreational Program – Provides structured activities for students.
  • Game Room – Opened in August 2022 to encourage social engagement.
  • Arts and Crafting – Offers creative outlets for self-expression.
  • Healthy Snack Preparation – Teaches students how to make nutritious snacks.
  • Home Living Skills – Covers cleaning, laundry, sewing, and cooking.
  • Monthly Birthday and Theme Parties – Celebrates students in a fun and inclusive setting.

The Nenahnezad Community School Residential Program strives to create a safe, enriching, and culturally responsive environment where students feel valued and empowered.
